Larry Hankin portrayed Mr. Heckles, a recurring character, a neighbor living in the apartment under Monica's Apartment.

Larry Hankin (born December 7, 1937) is an American actor, performer, director and producer.

Hankin studied acting at Syracuse University. Besides his Friends role, he is known for his roles in the TV show Seinfeld; as well as for his major role in the movie Escape from Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood. Also, he played a significant role in the movie Billy Madison along with Adam Sandler. He had cameo appearances in three John Hughes films, Home Alone, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and She's Having A Baby, as well as minor roles in The Sure Thing and Running Scared. In 1980, he shared an Academy Award nomination for Best Short Film, Live action for Solly's Diner.[1]

In Seinfeld, Hankin portrayed Tom Pepper, the actor cast as Kramer on the pilot-within-a-TV-show Jerry. In real life, he had actually auditioned for the role of Kramer when Seinfeld began production. Larry David initially felt that Hankin best matched his idea of what the character would be like in comparison to his real-life inspiration, Kenny Kramer, but Michael Richards ultimately landed the role.

Hankin appeared in Season 3 of Breaking Bad as a junk yard owner. Which he returned to in Season 5 Episode 1 Live Free Or Die.

Larry Hankin appeared appeared as Mr. Heckles in "Friends: The Reunion". At the reunion quiz, David Schwimmer asks the girls whose voice it is, and we hear the phrase "That's my monkey." The girls fail to name the character, then Mr. Heckles, in his usual bathrobe, enters the apartment, waives at them, waits for the public's applause to stop, and says "You all owe me a cat and a waffle" and exits.

Hankin appeared on the TV show ALF where fellow Friends recurring actor Max Wright (Terry) had a main role.

Hankin had a small recurring role on Star Trek (as a holographic character). Another Friends actor, Michael G. Hagerty, portrayed several characters on Star Trek, albeit not in the same episodes.
