Hi 5ko! I've got some exciting news: FANDOM is hosting a Friends trivia game show next Friday, July 31, where participants can call up a lifeline to help them with a question. And you're in luck because you're invited to help write some trivia questions for the game. You'll be asked to rank the trivia questions from easiest to hardest and give your feedback. Plus as an additional option, you can join the game as a lifeline! Just know, that to participate as a lifeline, you will have to be willing to come in on camera to help answer the question. Are you interested in these offers? If you want to take one or both of them, that's great! If not, that is totally fine! Please let me know what you think!
Hi Julia. Thanks for letting me know. I wouldn't go on camera. If you have some written questions, I can try to rank them. BTW the person who knows best the show and all the in-universe facts is User:Vincent Harriman, not me.
Hello. What I mean to do as I find the time, is to improve the articles about the actors. Compare for example the article about Joan Pringle and an earlier version. Several things were done:
The first paragraph of the article must start with the name in bold and state what is the role of the actor in Friends, for example: Firstname Lastname appeared as Charactername, Rachel's date in "The One With Rachel's Date".
Episode titles must be in plain font (not italic) and surrounded by "double quotes" (not apostrophes). The quotes need to only quote the episode title, not any punctuation that is from the sentence not the title.
The first link needs to be to the article about that character (if it exists), like above, and not for example "... appeared as Rachel's date Charactername..."
If there is a short biography, it needs to come after the first paragraph. Film titles and series titles need to be unquoted in italic style, episode titles in plain surrounded by "double quotes".
You can add the Template:Actor and fill the appropriate fields. It is not required or essential to add a photo but if a photo is already uploaded, say to the character page, you can reuse it in the template.
You can search the actor at Wikipedia and at IMDb, and add a section "External links" in our article to these 2 resources. Make sure this is the same actor, and not another one with the same name. Also, at Wikipedia there may be a link to an official website, Twitter or Instagram page of the actor, you can add these too in the "External links" section. Only official links are allowed, not fan websites or other pages made by people unaffiliated with the actor.
There, if you want to work, you can start here. Do not feel obligated to do it, and there is no hurry.
Hello there! I have thought about making projects for the wiki, like I have seen with other wikis. We can have some about episodes, characters, pictures, cast and world (about anything that isn'r included in the previous projects. I think that the projects can make the wiki's information more informative.
The only problem is that some people aren't very active and the projects might not have enough people. Anyway, hope you think about it and have a good day!
Traditionally for articles about television in the printed press, the show title is italicized, and the episodes are in quotes, normal style, not italic.
On the wiki, when the episode title is a link, it is already emphasized/distinguishable from the other text and I don't bother adding quotes or removing the italic -- maybe I should -- especially if someone prints an article on a black and white printer. Yes, you are right, it is better to strive for something consistent, but no pressure, we can do it progressively as we have (free) time.
I'm not too sure if you are the right person to talk to, but I have found a slight issue in the "badge" system. I have made 3 edits on different articles, yet according to my "badges" I haven't even made one edit. Do you know if this has happend to anyone else?
Yes, the "characters articles" badge only rarely increments your edits, I'm not sure why. The other badges appear to work fine. Note that the "every day" badge only increments when the date changes in UTC.
I think I know why the "character article" badge rarely counts your edits. There are two different categories: "Friends characters" & "Characters". I think that the character edit badge only counts edits made on articles with the "Characters" category. I hope that makes sense.
